Setup and operation guide for Bambu Lab P2S Combo AMS 2 Pro

Prepare, assemble and start your printer step by step, with photos and videos to guide you through the process.

Filament system: AMS 2 Pro

Prepared by Tajseem using official sources • English edition reviewed: 22 October 2026

Before you begin

  • Check that the model and version on your printer match this guide. Some versions are supplied as a Combo with a multi-color unit; others use an external spool. Packaging and accessories can vary between batches.
  • Prepare a stable table and leave room for movement and tubing. Open the printer manual and watch the video to identify the shipping restraints. The heatbed is the part that moves or heats up; the build plate sits on it and is the surface you print on.
  • Use the tools and screws specified for each step. Keep the printer disconnected from power while assembling parts and connecting cables.
  • Keep the carton, protective packaging and shipping screws. Store shipping screws separately from assembly screws.
Leave the specified foam around the heatbed in place until calibration finishes, then remove it. Do not apply the A1 mini unboxing procedure to P2S.

Unboxing and assembly steps

Follow the steps in order and check the photos below each step. You can select an image to view it or open its source. Compare screw positions and connections with the diagrams in the printer manual as you assemble the printer.

  1. Take out the tool box and guide, then lift the printer onto a stable table. Remove the protective bag and the tape beneath the side panels so it does not block ventilation.

First startup and calibration

  1. Before connecting power, check the shipping screws, build plate and connections against the model-specific steps above. Do not remove all foam at the same stage: the specified foam must remain beneath the heatbed until calibration is complete.
  2. Choose the language and settings on the printer screen. For remote printing, connect the printer to your network and link it to the app.
  3. Run the checks and calibration requested by the setup screen and wait until they finish. Keep tools and models off the build plate, and do not touch moving parts.
  4. If an error appears, photograph the message and error code. Check the assembly and printer manual before running calibration again. Once setup completes successfully, you can load filament.

Fit and load filament

  1. Start with an easy-to-print material such as PLA and choose its profile in the slicer; a profile is a set of settings for that material. Check that the spool and filament are suitable for the printer and feeding system. Verify compatibility before using flexible or abrasive filament.
  2. Position the spool so it turns freely. Hold the filament end to prevent tangles and feed it gently along its intended route. Do not force it if you feel resistance.
  3. Use the printer screen's filament-loading command as described in the manual. Wait for the nozzle to heat automatically, check that filament comes out, and follow the remaining on-screen steps.
  4. Set the material type and color for each slot or toolhead, and keep the same order in the slicer and on the printer. Similar colors do not mean that two filaments are the same material.
  5. Before changing a spool, choose Unload on the printer screen. Do not pull filament out of a cold toolhead by force.

Download printer software

The desktop software for this printer is Bambu Studio. This slicer lets you open a model, choose printer and filament settings, and prepare the print file.

Download Bambu Studio for your computer

  1. Open the link on your computer, choose the version for your operating system and install it.
  2. Open the software and select your printer model, nozzle size and build-plate type.
  3. Choose the filament profile and match the color slots to the printer if you are printing in multiple colors.
  4. If your printer model is missing, update the software and printer profiles from the same official source. Do not substitute a similarly named printer.

Your first print: start with a small model

  1. Start with a test model stored on the printer if one is available. Before printing, check that the filament required by the file matches what you have loaded.
  2. For your own file, download Bambu Studio from the software section above. Select your printer model, nozzle size and build-plate type in the slicer; do not choose a different printer's profile.
  3. Open the model in the slicer and place it within the build plate boundaries. Choose the filament profile and keep the recommended starting settings rather than immediately using maximum speed.
  4. For multi-color prints, assign each color to the correct slot or toolhead. If the file uses a prime tower to clean the nozzle between colors, make sure it fits on the plate along with the model and supports.
  5. Select Slice to prepare the file, then open Preview. Check the first layer, supports, estimated time and filament use. Send the job to the printer using a supported method, such as the network or storage media.
  6. Watch the first layer. Its lines should join together and adhere to the plate without dragging or lifting at the edges. If it does not stick, stop the print, clean the plate and check calibration and settings before trying again.

After the print finishes

  • Wait for the nozzle, heatbed and model to cool before touching them. If your build plate is flexible and suitable for this method, remove it and gently flex it to release the model, then return it flat to its correct position.
  • Remove the priming line and loose filament. Check that no small pieces remain beneath the build plate or on the heatbed before replacing the plate.
  • Avoid touching the print surface with your fingers. Use the cleaning method recommended for that build-plate type; check that any cleaner is suitable before applying it.
  • Store filament in a dry place and secure the end when removing a spool to prevent tangles. Inspect the tubes, nozzle wiper and feed rollers regularly.
  • Follow the maintenance schedule in the printer manual. Do not apply oil or grease to a part unless the manual calls for it.

If you run into a problem

Calibration stops or you hear a collision

Stop calibration and check the shipping screws and restraints, cable route and build plate against the steps above. Do not restart calibration while movement is obstructed or unusual rubbing noises remain. Photograph the error message and code so we can help.

Filament does not feed or come out of the nozzle

Check that you selected the correct slot, the spool turns freely, the filament is not tangled and the tube is not kinked. Confirm that loading completed and the nozzle reached the temperature specified by the filament profile. Do not disassemble a hot toolhead or pull filament by force. If the blockage remains, follow the printer manual's procedure.

The first layer does not stick

Clean the plate using the method appropriate for its type and seat it flat. Check the build-plate type, filament and nozzle size in the slicer, then run bed leveling according to the printer instructions. Try a small model before starting a long print.

Colors or materials appear in a different order

Check that the slot order and material types on the printer screen match the slicer. Verify the material type as well as its color, correct the assignments and send the print again.

The printer does not appear in the software

Check the network connection, account linking and connection mode in both the printer and software, whether local or cloud. For a local connection, the computer and printer must be on the same network. Follow the connection steps in the printer manual.

If the problem continues, send us the printer model, error code and a photo of the connections or a short video showing the issue through our contact page.
